A second footgolf course is to open in Norwich alongside the pitch and putt course in Mousehold.

Footgolf, a hybrid sport combining football and golf, will make its debut at Mousehold next week, a year after the first course opened at Eaton Park.

Between the two sites, people will be able to play footgolf in Norwich every day of the week except on Wednesday over the summer season.

Councillor Roger Ryan, cabinet member for customer care and leisure said: 'We are delighted to be able to open this fantastic new footgolf course at Mousehold.

'Not only do our two pitch and kick facilities offer fun pitch and putt and footgolf sessions at very reasonable prices but they also bring in valuable income to the council; money we can invest in facilities and services for the city.'

What is Footgolf?

Footgolf is one of the fastest growing sports, with new clubs opening up all over the world.

The sport is believed to have been invented in 2009, and it was in the Netherlands where the first tournament was held.

The UK Footgolf Association formed in 2012, governs the sport, and provides equipment to golf courses that have taken it up.

There are 35 member countries as part of the sport's governing body, the Federation for International Footgolf, and there is an annual world cup.

The growth of the sport has kept TV channels alert, with broadcasters such as Sky said to be keeping a close eye on the sport's growth.
