Well wishers from the Diocese of Norwich travelled to London to support the Bishop-Designate of Lynn, Jonathan Meyrick, as he was ordained bishop and consecrated by the Archbishop of Canterbury at Westminster Abbey today.
Among those at the service were the former Bishop of Lynn, the Rt Rev James Langstaff, who is now Bishop of Rochester; and his predecessor, the Rt Rev Tony Foottit, who lives, in retirement, in Reepham.
Bishop Jonathan was ordained and consecrated alongside the Rt Rev John Holbrook, who is to be Bishop of Brixworth in the Diocese of Peterborough. The two hour service included a hymn written by Bishop Jonathan.
Bishop Jonathan will now move to Norfolk with his family and will be welcomed in a special service at St Margaret's, King's Lynn on Sunday June 19 at 6.30pm.
