A barrier will be fitted to Highfield Road Car Park in Fakenham to stop lorries and buses using the car park and damaging the surface.

Work will start on Friday to install the height restriction which will in use from Monday.

John Rest, cabinet member for assets at North Norfolk council, said: 'The car park was never intended to be used by commercial and heavy goods vehicles and the surface has been badly damaged. We are facing severe financial pressure and we have to do all we can to keep the surface of the car park in a good condition for as long as possible.' The height barrier has been fixed at three metres and leaflets explaining the change have been delivered to nearby residents and businesses.
