Beards and facial hair are everywhere at the moment and a new barbers shop in Norwich is hoping to get a cut of the trend.
MR. Barbers, on Lower Goat Lane in the city, officially opened its doors on Thursday with all the proceeds from the first day of trading going to charity.
The brand focuses on a more traditional style of male grooming and director of the Norwich shop, Conor Marks, said the reaction so far has been good.
'Essentially the idea of MR. Barbers is traditional British grooming for the modern man which is something that has really taken off in the country recently,' he said. 'What is really nice it that we have had 16 to 17-year-olds coming in, we have had mums coming to book appointments for their sons and then we have had a the older gentlemen as well.
'The feedback has been really, really positive. We had a lot of people through the doors which makes all the hard work we have put in worth it.'
MORE: New barber shop MR. Barbers to open in NorwichAll the money raised from the day was donated to It's On The Ball - a Norwich charity set up to provide support to patients and their families and raise awareness of testicular cancer. It is hoped that the barbers raised £800 in total.
MR. Barbers has 15 stores altogether across the country with the majority of the shops in East Anglia. The brand is hoping to expand rapidly over the next couple of years and Mr Marks said that the current fad for beards could help them achieve that.
'What started the male grooming trend was the popularity of facial hair so instead of people coming in for short back and sides more people are now coming in and asking for a hair and beard trim which is becoming just as popular as a hair cut,' he said. 'But beards are everywhere and everyone seems to have one at the moment.'
The barbers is open from 8.30am to 6pm Monday to Wednesday and on Saturday and from 8.30am to 7pm Thursday and Friday. Walk-ins are welcome but bookings can me made and the company having an app which is available to download via the app store.
