A 19-year-old man has been re-arrested by Norfolk Constabulary's major investigation team on suspicion of murder in relation to its inquiry into the killing of 17-year-old student Simon Everitt.

The man is in police custody and will be questioned over the next few days.

The arrest follows yesterday's remand in custody of Maria Chandler, 40, of Lancaster Road, Yarmouth, who appeared before the town's magistrates accused of murdering Mr Everitt. She will next appear at Norwich Crown Court on July 14.

A body believed to be that of Mr Everitt was discovered on farmland at Mautby, near Yarmouth, on Saturday morning. Formal identification has still to be carried out.

A murder inquiry was launched by police about a week after the Yarmouth College student, who lived in a seafront bedsit, disappeared on June 7.

Another man, aged 24, was also initially arrested on suspicion of murder and remains on police bail. Forensic investigators are expected to remain at Church Farm, Mautby, for a few more days.

Police last night repeated their appeal anyone who saw a suspicious vehicle in the area in the last three weeks to contact the major-investigation team on 0845 456 4567.
