Clare Vassallo's son Freddie, now aged 10, has attended Fakenham Children's Daycare Centre, on Field Lane, before and after school and during the holidays since 2007. Its support enabled her to return to work full-time.

Now Mrs Vassallo, 38, is in training to run the Manchester Marathon, on April 10, to raise funds for it.

'Fakenham Children's Daycare Centre is a registered charity which relies on donations, and is a charity very close to my heart,' she said.

'I wanted to say thank you to them for all the love and support they have offered over the years to us. I would like to raise awareness of the Charity and show people what I am doing and hopefully get more people to donate.'

Gary Steward, who owns Fakenham-based Steward Safety Supplies, where Mrs Vassallo works, has paid her entry fee and accommodation in Manchester. Mr Steward, whose children attended the centre, has also donated new running clothing.

While Mrs Vassallo is a keen runner, her longest run so far is a half-marathon she completed in 2012. She is now in training, clocking up 30 miles a week.

Mrs Vassallo has set up a just giving page online. Click here to donate.
