A father and son from Mulbarton are to take on the London Marathon in aid of a leprosy charity.

Steve and Asher Girling, of Meadows Drive, will embark on the 26.2 mile challenge on April 22 for the international organisation Lepra.

The disease affects millions of the world's most vulnerable people, causing life-changing disabilities.

Lepra works to beat the disease in India, Bangladesh and Mozambique. Mr Girling and his son have been training for the big day since October last year.

Mr Girling said: 'Training through the winter months has been really tough, particularly as you need to keep at it, despite the snow this year.

'Our chosen charity, Lepra, does such amazing work to bring relief to the most disadvantaged people affected by this tragic disease.'

The pair have so far raised £1,400 and aim to raise £1,750.
