His name is perhaps better known as a fictional character in the Charles Dickens novel Oliver Twist.

But this Mr Bumble is a five-year-old dog who is looking for a permanent new home.

A spokesman for the charity Dogs Trust, which is currently looking after him at its Snetterton rehoming centre, described the ginger Shar Pei as someone who 'loves the company of people and is full of character'.

The spokesman added: 'He loves people so much that he is looking for someone who is able to be home with him to begin with.

'Chilled out and wanting a warm bed to snuggle in, Mr Bumble could live with children that are aged over 12.

'He will need to be the only pet in the home so that he can have your love all to himself.

'Travelling in the car is one of his favourite things to do. He knows his basic commands and loves his treats.

'Mr Bumble will make an excellent companion and friend given the chance.'

If you can offer Mr Bumble a home, call Dogs Trust Snetterton on 0300 303 0292 or visit www.dogstrust.org.uk for more information.'

Dogs Trust is the UK's leading dog welfare charity. It has a network of 20 rehoming centres in the UK and one in Dublin.
