The throaty roar of Harley Davidsons and Triumphs could be heard in Wells when the town hosted its eighth Wheels-next-the-Sea motorcycle festival.

It was run for the first time by Wells Town Football Club, after previously being organised by the town's scout group.

Wells Town chairman Steve Finch said: 'It looked like the festival might come to an end when the scouts decided they didn't want to do it any more, but we were happy to take it on and it will raise money to help the football club move forward.'

More than 500 motorcycles were on display at the Beach Road playing field and around the town today

It is estimated that around 2,000 people attended.
