More than 15,000 people are expected to descend on the Norfolk Showground this weekend for a retro two-day music event.

Chart acts from the 70s, 80s and 90s are set to wow festival goers who will be enjoying this year's Reload Festival at the grounds, off Dereham Road.

Headliners include Kool and the Gang, Soul II Soul, Rick Astley, Go West and Hot Chocolate tonight, and Sunday's acts include The Human League, Sis Sledge, Billy Ocean and Jason Donovan.

A spokesman for Reload said camping had almost completely sold out with between 7,000 and 8,000 pitches filled.

'Reload is something slightly different,' he said. 'There's a number of current chart acts at other festivals but this gives people an opportunity to get a bit of a feel of nostalgia and have a retro weekend to go back to the time they would have first started to enjoy music.'

Festival goers are being advised to plan their journey to and from the Showground and motorists can expect delays in and around Costessey tomorrow and Sunday evening. They are also being advised to pre-book taxis and arrange to be collected from the designated pick up and drop off points at the entrance of the main car park.

Police are also urging revellers to make sure their own personal safety takes centre stage.

South Norfolk policing commander, chief inspector Stuart Armes, said: 'This is the first time the Reload Festival has come to Norfolk and whilst we want people to enjoy themselves, it is also important that festival-goers stay safe and protect their personal belongings.

'My advice to anyone attending Reload this weekend is to keep belongings like mobile phones, wallets and cameras secure and be aware of your surroundings. It is also worth installing your smart phone with a tracking device or app which can help officers locate stolen property.

'We would also encourage people to moderate their alcohol consumption, know their limits and not overdo it.'

Anyone travelling by car is reminded to lock it and not to leave valuables inside.
