More than 100 vehicles were stopped and checked during a police clamp down on car crime.
A multi-agency enforcement operation was held in Great Yarmouth on Thursday with Great Yarmouth Safer Neighbourhood Teams, Norfolk and Suffolk Joint Roads Policing Unit, the Operation Radar team and HM Revenue & Customs officers taking to the streets for a day of action.
The purpose of the operation was to identify vehicles running on red diesel, vehicles being used in criminal activity, including rogue trading, and vehicles with serious defects.
In total 101 vehicles were stopped and checked, with nine fixed penalty notices being issued for various offences, including driving whilst using a mobile phone, failing to wear a seatbelt and vehicles being overweight.
Two further vehicles were seized after they were found being driven with no insurance and a further seven being issued with prohibition notices for 'serious defects'.
Sergeant Ade Hales, from Yarmouth's Safer Neighbourhood Team, said; 'This has sent out a clear message to drivers and operators alike who would consider using rebated red diesel in their vehicles not to run the risk. While no vehicles were identified as having rebated diesel, we have found other offences and the message is clear, you will be caught.'
He added that further operations are planned in the coming months across the Yarmouth area.
