Daisy was reported missing on Tuesday afternoon, and an eye-witness has since claimed to have seen the dog stolen from its home in New Buckenham Road, Old Buckenham.

Police have described the suspect as a man in his 20s with blonde hair, who was wearing a baseball cap, blue jeans and a blue jumper when he drove off with Daisy in a silver pick-up truck.

Five-year-old Daisy is the beloved pet of retired couple, Rita and Philip Potter.

Mrs Potter says the loss of Daisy has crushed the family.

She said: 'We're absolutely devastated. My husband is really devastated, because she was his life. Plus we have seven grandchildren who are all beside themselves.

'We never had to shut the gates, she would just wait for us on the driveway. She has been a wonderful dog for us; so, so lovely.'

Mrs Potter has thanked the community in Old Buckenham for their help and made an urgent appeal for Daisy's return.

She said: 'Everybody in the community has been fantastic. There's been thousands of posts on Facebook and everybody is trying their best to get her home safe.

'It is just awful. I know people pinch things, but to pinch somebody's pet is something else. It's like we've lost one of the family really.

'We just want our Daisy back.'

Mr Potter said: 'We have had crying grandchildren in the garden this week.

'But it's not just us, everybody in the village loves her. She is so well behaved and friendly to everyone, she would never leave the garden on her own.

Daisy has a distinctive black dot under her right eye and a small black dot under her nose.

She does not have a collar, however, she is microchipped.
