Military enthusiasts have set a date for their first ‘road run’ tour of mid-Norfolk after their initial plans were scrapped due to poor weather conditions at the beginning of the year.

The Norfolk Military Vehicle Road Run will now take place on July 15 and organisers say that it will be “bigger than previously thought”.

The group will start the day by showcasing their vehicles at Morrison’s car park in Dereham at 11am and from there they will travel to the Jack Richards private lorry museum in Fakenham and finish at Bylaugh Hall, which was once visited by Winston Churchill and Dwight D Eisenhower.

Organiser Michael Curtis said: “The run will be bigger than previously thought as more and more members of the group have shown interest and the thought of better weather has encouraged them.”

He added that the group is exploring the possibility of also holding a parade through Dereham at the start of the event.
