The candidates contesting the Mid Norfolk seat in today's general election have made their final pleas to voters.

Conservative George Freeman said: 'I hope in the seven years since I gave up my business to stand as our MP here in my home county, people have come to see that I have committed first and foremost to being a hardworking constituency MP. We've had our local victories, but there is so much more to do. I'm asking for the chance to continue to serve this area that I know and love and fight for a Brexit that works for us all.'

Labour's Sarah Simpson said: 'Mid Norfolk is a great place to live but I know it could be better for all of us. Our NHS could be funded properly, social care could take account of our individual needs, our small businesses could be better supported, and schools could have the resources they need.

'With the Conservative Government this hasn't happened. Let's make it happen. Vote Labour for a fairer, richer life for all of us, not just a priviledged few.'

Liberal Democrat candidate Fionna Tod said: 'As your representative, I will focus on improving Norfolk's transport infrastructure to deliver economic growth. I will fight against the Tories' new school funding formula, which could see our local schools lose funding at a time when costs are rising and pupil numbers are going up. I will push for new investment into our NHS, particularly for mental health.'

UKIP's Tracy Knowles said: 'UKIP will take the strongest stance against Islamic terrorism. We will prioritise human lives over the human rights of any jihadi. Voting for UKIP would mean more than just words, there would be a multi-faceted approach including a new strong counterterrorism strategy and solid integration programs. UKIP will also be the guard dogs of Brexit and ensure that you get the Brexit you voted for last June.'

Hannah Lester, standing for the Greens, said: 'A vote for The Green Party is a vote for big, bold ideas that create a confident and caring Britain that we can all be proud of. We aren't afraid to hope for a better future or to be honest about how we get there. If elected, I will be brave, speak my mind and stand up for what matters to Mid Norfolk. If you want to vote for a real alternative to the mainstream on Thursday then vote Green.'
