A community shed where men can share skills, tools and banter has opened in King’s Lynn.

The Men’s Shed scheme aims to tackle loneliness and isolation by bringing people together to share skills and tools.

Around 15 men aged between 18 and 70 years have joined the Men’s Shed in Paxman Road on the Hardwick Estate, which is open every Tuesday from 3pm to 6pm.

Research by the Men’s Shed project found that men typically find it more difficult to build social connections than women, and fewer older men have networks of friends and rarely share personal concerns about health and personal worries.

One member of King’s Lynn Men’s Shed said: “I think it’s an absolutely great idea for men who have just come into retirement and don’t have much to do, and it gets them out from under their wife’s feet.”
