Members of Sikh temple in Peterborough visit Thetford to learn more about Maharajah Duleep Singh

Members of the Gurdwara Baba Budha Sahib Ji Sikh temple first visited the grave of the last King of Punjab at St Andrew’s and St Patrick’s Church in Elveden.

They paid their respects to the Maharajah who bought the Elveden Estate in 1863.

The group then visited Thetford’s Ancient House Museum which is home to a number of exhibitions before the children were able to take part in a workshop.

Temple leaders visited statue of the Maharajah on Butten Island and handed out the blessed food Langar.

Suckwant Singh, from the temple, said: “We absolutely enjoyed our day and we hope we can make it an annual event and we can get other communities and cultures to join in.

“We really are so thankful to Thetford and the museum. We had a lot of passes by and we were getting everybody involved.”
