She is a Norfolk actress well known for impersonating rock goddess Madonna and Hollywood star Marilyn Monroe.

But Melita Morgan has found herself working alongside another music legend for a major charity event.

The Aylsham mother-of-three had a small part in a film about Sir Bob Geldof, to be screened as part of Comic Relief's Red Nose Day television marathon in March.

She was Madonna at a lookalike convention which Sir Bob tries to gatecrash, in a plot which also features comic Brian Conley as compere.

"I act in a cameo role, take part in comedy sketches and do background vocals for the film called I Am Bob," said Melita.

"Afterwards he even gave me and a friend a lift home in his chauffeur-driven car. But there was no superstar behaviour or pretence. He was a real gentleman, chatting to us, and I even helped him do his crossword."

She is hoping to expand her career beyond being the two blonde bombshells, to include some serious character parts and charity work.

The Comic Relief job helped, along with her recent role in a film called Mister Lonely, which is expected to be released at the Cannes film festival in the spring.

In the film, by American director Harmony Korine, she again plays a Madonna impersonator - but with a broader role, which includes a love scene with Charlie Chaplin!

As a spin-off, fellow cast member, Oscar-nominated actress Samantha Morton, who played a Marilyn lookalike, invited her to sing at a celebrity charity event in aid of a Save the Children Fund tsunami appeal, attended by many top fashion designers including Vivienne Westwood.

"I was really nervous because it was a special invitation, and wore a £4,000 dress by designer Alexander McQueen, but pleased to do my bit for the cause - and would love to do more charity work," said Melita, who went into showbusiness 15 years ago to follow a dream.

During that time she has done her Madonna and Marilyn cabaret and cameo roles all over the world, but is still desperate to tackle other work.

The Mister Lonely part had helped her get into the Spotlight register for actresses. "I hope it will lead to more character roles," said Melita, who has a seven-year-old daughter and two teenage sons.

She is also hoping to direct and star in a re-shoot of a music video of the song Sexy Lady by the Norfolk-based Greek band the Constantia Brothers, whose singer Andreas Yiasimi runs the Amber Model Agency, where she is also on the books.
