A youth and community centre is taking its support for a town's youngsters to the next level by hosting an end of year prom for them.

Meet Up in Thetford will be welcoming Year 6 pupils from the town's schools for the party on Wednesday, July 20.

The prom is being held in aid of Meet Up, on the Redcastle Furze estate, with all ticket sales going towards the centre.

Jenna Ashworth, social action development worker at the Benjamin Foundation, which runs Meet Up, said a prom committee made up of around seven Year 6 pupils has been working to organise the prom and co-ordinate fundraising events, including bag-packing at Tesco in Thetford.

'I think it is a really positive social action event for the children. The prom committee have worked very hard and it is fundraising for Meet Up at the same time,' she said.

Ms Ashworth added that the prom may be hosting a secret special guest.

The prom is being held at Meet Up from 4.30pm to 6.30pm next Wednesday. Tickets are £5 and will include food and drinks. Find updates on the Benjamin Foundation Facebook page.
