The Lord Mayor of Norwich will be opening a summer fete this weekend as part of a 700th anniversary celebration.

Martin Schmierer will open the Eaton Parishes Summer Fete on Saturday, June 9.

Jointly organised by St Andrew's and Christ Church of Eaton Parish, the fete is in aid of children and youth work in the area.

The event is part of a year of celebration for St Andrew's which began in 1318 when the first known vicar, Geoffrey de Boton started work in Norwich.

2018 also marks the 25th anniversary of the New Church building, which is also used by St Andrew's.

A hog roast, teas and ice-creams will be available and the stalls include jewellery, pickles and preserves, cakes, books, toys and handcrafts, and a tombola.

The fete will be from 12-4pm at St Andrew's Eaton car park on Church Avenue, Norwich.
