Floral displays ensure North Walsham looks blooming marvellous throughout the year.

They are maintained by local volunteers and, at a cost of £6000 a year, rely on the goodwill of businesses to keep growing.

The Norfolk Freemasonry's Lodge of Unanimity No. 102 donated a cheque for £273.50 to North Walsham in Bloom at its April meeting in the town's community centre, where Lodge members heard about the work carried out by the chairman of the charity, Chris Roberts, who was a guest. The money was raised with a raffle drawn at the masons' March meeting.

W.Bro Ian Walker, Lodge Charity steward, said: 'The United Grand Lodge of England is celebrating its 300th anniversary this year during which Masonic Lodges are being encouraged to support their communities and we are delighted that this donation will go towards making North Walsham a brighter place for all to enjoy.'
