A children's charity is set to get the county moving to raise money for bereaved forces families.

King's Lynn based charity Scotty's Little Soldiers is launching it's newest challenge next month called the Month of May Marathon.

Businesses, associations, clubs, families and groups of friends are encouraged to join together to cover 26.2 miles in any way they wish, from long walks in the park to evening bike rides after work.

Money raised through the challenge will go towards helping the charity continue to deliver support to more than 300 children across the UK who have lost a parent in the British Armed Forces.

Army wife Nikki Scott set up Scotty's Little Soldiers in her husband's name, Corporal Lee Scott, after he was killed in Afghanistan in 2009, leaving behind their two small children.

Ms Scott said: 'The Scotty's team and I are very much looking forward to launching the Month of May Marathon once again this year.

'Last year was a great success, and we hope to raise even more this year in honour of our fallen heroes.'

Scotty's member and 2017 participant, Lily, 6, said: 'Last year I did the marathon with mummy and managed to raise a massive £720.

'We walked little bits at a time to make it easier and found lots of new places to play.

'It was lots of fun helping Scotty's Little Soldiers raise money, everyone should get their friends involved this year and do it together.'

Fundraisers will receive a special certificate of achievement for completing the full marathon miles as well as a headband for raising £50, a Month of May Marathon medal for £100 and a running vest or children's T-shirt for £150.
