A MAN has been taken to hospital after falling from a flat balcony in south Lowestoft.

Traffic was delayed as people made their way home at the end of the first day of the Lowestoft Seafront Air Festival today (Saturday).

Police, the East of England Ambulance Service and the air ambulance, were called to a flat at Lancing Court in Rectory Road, at the end of today's spectacular, which attracted 200,000 people to town.

Insp Matthew Rose, from Suffolk Police, said: 'We were called to reports that someone had fallen from the balcony after enjoying the airshow. At the time there was concern that the man was seriously injured, but he has been seen by a doctor at the scene and his injuries are not deemed to be life threatening.

'He has been taken by ambulance to the James Paget University Hospital (in Gorleston),' Insp Rose added. The air ambulance was called but it was not required in the end.'
