A man suffered head injuries today after a collision with a train near Norwich station.The accident took place by Carrow Bridge just before 6.30am on the Yarmouth to Norwich line.

A man suffered head injuries today after a collision with a train near Norwich station.

The accident took place by Carrow Bridge just before 6.30am on the Yarmouth to Norwich line. It was the 6am train that collided with the man, believed to be aged in his 60s, who suffered minor head injuries.

Commuters faced disruption, cancellations and delays on all routes in and out of the station as most lines were closed up to about 8.15am while the incident was investigated.

It is not known how the man came to be on the tracks.

A spokesman for British Transport Police said: “We are investigating the circumstances surrounding this incident. At this stage we are not treating it as suspicious and would ask anyone who has information to contact us.”
