Police appealed for information yesterday after a 28-year-old man was sprayed in the face with what was believed to be ammonia during a robbery at his home.
It happened at about 10.45pm on Monday when a man knocked at the victim's home in West Parade, Wisbech.
The pair had a brief conversation before the man sprayed the victim and grabbed a gold chain worth hundreds of pounds from his neck.
The robber was white, of medium build, aged 21-25, 5ft 7in tall with blonde hair. He was wearing a blue hooded jumper and dark jeans.
Det Con Jon Ward said: “This was a nasty attack and I would appeal to anyone who was in the area and saw the man to contact me.
“The man was in a lot of discomfort after being sprayed in the face and is lucky his injuries were not more serious.”
