A 24-year-old man was left shaken after being robbed at knifepoint by a man posing as a taxi driver.

Police yesterday appealed for information about the crime, which happened at Hockwold, near Brandon.

The victim, from Essex, was waiting at Thetford bus station at 1.20pm on Thursday when a man driving an X-registered white car offered to take him to Bury St Edmunds. Instead he took him to Main Street, Hockwold, where he threatened his passenger and stole his wallet and suitcase.

The victim was left by the roadside and was eventually given a lift to RAF Feltwell by a man in a red Land Rover who called himself Herbie.

The robber was about 40, white and of large build, with stubble and short, black hair. He had a local accent and wore a green fleece with a North Face logo and dark jeans. The car had a round, blue logo on a side window.
