A man has been jailed for trying to smuggle a mobile phone and cannabis into a Norfolk prison.

Jermaine Marshall, 27, was found guilty of two counts of conveying a prohibited item into HMP Wayland at Norwich Crown Court on October 31.

Marshall, from London, was arrested on September 30 when he attended the prison in Griston as a visitor.

While conducting routine searches, prison officers found a mobile phone hidden in Marshall's trousers and during a further search approximately 46g of cannabis resin was recovered.

Marshall was sentenced to five months in prison at Norwich Crown Court on November 29.
