A man has died after a crash at a motocross circuit in Besthorpe.

The man, aged in his 50s, died after the incident in Silver Street at around 3.30pm yesterday.

A police spokesman said officers were called to the scene following reports a man riding a Honda 250cc motocross bike had suffered serious head, neck and chest injuries.

An ambulance crew attended, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident took place at Besthorpe Motocross Track.

A message on the track’s voicemail system confirmed it would close for the day (Sunday) out of respect to the victim.

The statement said the incident was “rider error” and “no fault of our own”.

It said: “Obviously it’s very, very sad for everyone involved and a lot of staff are needing the day to recover.”
