A 27-year-old man is due to appear at Lowestoft Magistrates Court on Tuesday charged with robbery and attempted robbery following two incidents in the town.

At around 6.20pm on February 26, a 15-year-old boy with two other boys of similar age were walking through Blackheath Woods towards Pakefield when they were approached and told to empty their pockets. When the 15-year-old refused he was assaulted but nothing was stolen.

Then at around 9.35pm on the same day a 47-year-old man was walking along the footpath at Stradbroke Road when he was confronted, assaulted and told to hand over cash. No money was handed over but a bag of sweets he was carrying was stolen. The 47-year-old had two front teeth knocked out and substantial bruising and swelling to his face.

Thomas Cook, 27, of Long Road, Carlton Colville, was arrested on suspicion of robbery on March 4 and was bailed until April for further enquiries.

He answered bail on April 16 and was charged with attempted robbery in connection with the first incident and robbery in connection with the second. He is now due to appear at Lowestoft Magistrates Court from 9.20am on Tuesday.
