A man has died following a crash involving two cars on the A149 at Thorpe Market.
Emergency services were called to the scene on North Walsham Road at around 7.50am today (Wednesday, March 21).
The crash, which took place near to the junction with the B1436, between Cromer and North Walsham, involved a Hyundai Tuscan and a Vauxhall Corsa.
Police have confirmed that a man driving the Corsa died at the scene.
A woman who was driving the Hyundai was taken to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital with serious injuries, police said.
It is the 11th death on Norfolk’s roads since the start of 2018.
The road was closed while emergency services dealt with the incident. It re-opened at 1.15pm.
Chief inspector Kris Barnard, head of Norfolk and Suffolk roads policing unit, said: “Sadly today we’ve seen another tragedy on our roads and our thoughts are with the families and friends affected by this incident.
“A full and thorough investigation will be carried out into the collision and therefore it would not be appropriate for me to comment further about the cause of the crash.
“I would however like to take this opportunity to urge all drivers to take extra care when travelling on the county’s roads.”
Police cars blocked the A149 between the A140/1949 junction in Northrepps and A149/B1436 Cromer Road junction in Roughton.
Anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or the manner of driving of either vehicle prior to the incident, should contact the Serious Collision Investigation Team at Norfolk Police on 101.
