A man in his 80s has died after his car crashed into a tree.

The accident happened on the A134 at Stanton, near Bury St Edmunds, and a female passenger, also in her 80s, was taken to the West Suffolk Hospital with serious injuries.

Emergency services were called to the scene at just before 11am yesterday and a police spokesman said it is believed the man was unwell shortly before the crash.

The police are appealing for witnesses, and are asking those who may be able to help to contact Suffolk Police on 101, quoting CAD reference 134 of October 14.
