A man is currently being question by police on suspicion of attempted murder following a stabbing outside a busy Yarmouth nightspot.

Police and ambulance crews were called to Croppers Bar on Southtown Road at 2.30am this morning to reports that a man had been repeatedly stabbed.

The victim was taken to the James Paget University Hospital in Gorleston where he received treatment for seven superficial stab wounds and was later released.

A second man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and was taken to Yarmouth police station where he is being questioned about the attack.

Following the incident parts of Southtown Road and Steam Mill Lane where closed off while scenes of crime officers carried out a forensic examination of the area.

Police have not released any further details of the man who has been arrested or the victim.
