Man arrested after police stand off

Police are today questioning a man after he barricaded himself inside a house in Norwich.

Officers were called to the Mile Cross area last night after reports that a man with a weapon - possibly a machete - was seen inside a house.

Officers were called to the Mile Cross area last night after reports that a man with a weapon - possibly a machete - was seen inside a house.

Firearms officers and specialist negotiators attended but could not persuade the man to leave and they became concerned for his safety.

Early this morning officers broke into the house and arrested the man, who is in his thirties. No-one else was in the property at the time.
