Recognised for its scenic splendour, Mulbarton Common boasts an array of typical Norfolk meadow plants that make it so special.
Now nature lovers can learn more about the area on a guided walk taking place on Saturday. The Norfolk Wildlife Trust will lead a free meadow tour of Mulbarton Common as part of The Wildlife Trusts' national 'Our Meadow Wildlife Weekend'. Helen Baczkowska, Norfolk Wildlife Trust Conservation Officer, will lead the walk and point out typical plants found in the common including lady's bedstraw and bird's-foot trefoil. She will also discuss what makes a meadow a meadow, why they are so important and how they are managed. Lowland meadows are one of the most threatened habitats in Britain, with more than 95% lost between 1945 and 1984. Anyone wanting to take part should meet in the Mulbarton Sports and Social Club car park, New Village Hall, the Common, Mulbarton. The walk is free and booking is not needed.
