A King's Lynn woman is biking 54 miles from London to Brighton tomorrowto raise money for a new domestic abuse charity.

Sinead Murray, 26, from Bishop's Close, has become a trustee of the Daisy Programme charity.

The family practitioner, based in Swaffham, said: 'The ride starts about 7am and I hope to do it in about four hours. One of the services the charity offers is the freedom programme, which I did as part of training at work, and I could see what it did for people who are affected by domestic abuse. I have set a target to raise £2000. This is the first time I've done a bike ride like this, and I've only had my bike for a month. I have been training but I just hope it's not raining or windy.'

About 1,000 cyclists will be taking part in the London to Brighton bike ride for a charity of their choice.

A spokesman for the Daisy Programme, said: 'We appreciate what Sinead is doing. Every penny counts.'

The charity was set up last year to provide one-to-one support and a counselling service for men and women who are living with or who are affected by domestic abuse in the Breckland area. In the future, it hopes to expand to other areas.
