A sinkhole has opened up in a residential street in a Norfolk seaside town.

The sinkhole appeared today (Thursday, November 7) at the junction of Lynewood Road and Links Avenue in Cromer.

A nearby resident, who asked not to be named, said she had seen workers putting traffic cones around the opening.

She said: "I looked out the window and thought 'what's going on there?'

"One man started putting bollards around it, but traffic was still going around."

UPDATE: Workers step in to fix sinkhole 'promptly'

A spokesperson for Norfolk County Council said: "a small sinkhole appeared this morning but our team were swiftly on site and the area affected should be fully repaired shortly.

The spokesperson said no traffic management was necessary.
