Sea shanties, songs and storytelling will echo out as real accounts of bravery, valour and courage displayed by Lowestoft’s fishermen and lifeboatmen will be honoured during a special event next month.

Lowestoft Fishermen – Tales of Heroism will take centre stage at the Seagull Theatre in Pakefield on Sunday, October 21 as The Rogues Shanty Chorus perform.

Lowestoft’s very own shanty choir – The Rogues Chorus – will explore through their usual inimitable mix of sea shanties, song and storytelling the real accounts of bravery, valour and courage displayed by Lowestoft sailors over the past several centuries, concentrating on the role of fishermen during both world wars as well as recounting extraordinary launches and rescues by RNLI Lowestoft.

Musical director and percussionist, Andy Marr, said: “The choir always look forward to any performance but especially they enjoy preparing for and performing our theatre shows.

“We are warning people, however, to book early based on having had four complete sell-outs and having to turn people away on the door.”

The show starts at 7.30pm on October 21 with all seats at £8, now available from The Seagull Theatre box office on 01502 589726 or via www.theseagull.co.uk
