‘The Lowestoft Players at 50’, written by historian Bob Dickson, documents the company’s history and salutes the individuals who helped it reach the milestone.

On Friday, April 20, Players young and old welcomed visitors to the Bethel Theatre on Battery Green, the venue they have called home since 2009. Roy Randall - involved with the society since 1971 - received a copy of the book from Mr Dickson, who commented on the Players’ far-reaching appeal.

He said: “By whichever way the news has spread, we’ve received orders from Denmark, Spain, Tennessee and the length and breadth of the British Isles.

“All proceeds go towards the improvement of the Players Theatre as a venue for shows, as well as for use as a social hub by around 20 diverse groups from the Lowestoft area.”

The book can be purchased at the Marina Theatre, John Wells of Southwold or by emailing bobandd@btinternet.com.
