The Lowestoft RNLI lifeboat Spirit of Lowestoft was called out yesterday afternoon to go to the aid of a Dutch yacht with had engine failure just outside the harbour entrance.
The 45 foot yacht Jeannette was on passage from Ijmuiden in the Netherlands to Lowestoft when the crew of three called for help.
The town's all weather lifeboat launched shortly after 5.30pm and met the yacht three-quarters of a mile off the pier heads and after swiftly attaching a tow line soon brought the stranded vessel safely into a mooring in the yacht basin.
