A pioneering Lowestoft company is set to enter a profitable future by expanding the production of innovative commercial refrigeration units.

Adande Refrigeration says it will begin to make a profit from 2012 thanks to increasing sales of its patented fridge and freezer drawers both at home and abroad.

The company has been making the insulated drawers, which ensures no cold air escapes when they are opened to improve efficiency, since 2006.

So far the Adande has sold about 4,000 of the units to restaurants, pubs hotels, and food chains such as KFC and McDonalds, with the company quadrupling sales for the last three years.

But now, thanks to a new factory on the South Lowestoft Industrial Estate, production of the drawers, which are said to improve energy efficiency by 50pc, is set to increase by nearly tenfold to 200 a month.

The new factory, which was officially opened by Waveney MP Peter Aldous yesterday, has been operational since April.

The new site sees Adande consolidating all of its Lowestoft operations on one rented-out site on Pinbush Road, making it possible to produce the units in one easily accessible area.

Adande's move to the factory, which created three jobs and cost 32,000, has already benefited the company as it has just shipped 60 drawer units to Australia, where it has also granted another company licensing rights Down Under.

Another 19 units have been sent to Bahrain and Adande is looking at supplying super market chain Morrisons with the drawers, which have their own work surface for chefs to use.

Next year Adande is predicted to have an turnover of up to 5m and it is set to go into profit for the first time since being formed in 2000.

The company was set up by Ian Wood and George Young out of the ashes of their previous firm Applied Design and Engineering, an engineering consultancy specialising in industrial ventilation, refrigeration and air conditioning for the offshore oil, gas and petrochemical industries.

Mr Wood, Adande managing director, said: 'We want these fridge freezer draws to become ubiquitous in the commercial food world.

'This new factory will enable us to increase production and help market units around Britain and around the world. The relocation has already paid dividends.'

Next year Adande hopes to branch out with another innovative refrigerator patent which it says will help keep display cases in supermarkets cold without wasting energy or leading to chilly aisles putting off customers from using them.
