The A12 bascule bridge in Lowestoft will be closed from 8pm tonight until 6am tomorrow for emergency checks.
A Highways Agency official said the closure was required to test electrical systems, which were repaired following last week's flooding.
It is not part of the schedule programme of closures for the ongoing £2.3m maintenance programme, which resumes from 8pm on Saturday until 6am the following Tuesday.
