Wymondham reflected Valentine's Day by staging its first Love Wymondham event.
A short play, Lonely Hearts, was performed in the Courtyard Caf by Richard Crawley and Georgette Vale, together with readings in the Norfolk dialect by local poet Tina Chamberlain.
Members of the 4th Wymondham Guides sold heart-shaped biscuits to raise funds for their summer trip to Derbyshire and Wymondham Warblers serenaded customers at Rudy's Pizzeria, in nearby Griffin Court, with love songs. Emma Green, a staff member at the event sponsors, the Heart of Wymondham pub, became Queen of the Heart for the day, to raise funds for the British Heart Foundation. Saturday's event was co-ordinated by locally-based Activity Team, which specialises in linking businesses to their local community. With no practising chamber of trade, they had stepped in to fill the gap and get things moving.
