The driver who died when his lorry crashed on the A47 on Saturday did so of natural causes, a post-mortem examination has revealed.

Colin Wright, 62, of Sutton Bridge, Lincolnshire, suffered acute cardiac failure due to heart disease, Norwich Coroners Court said.

The A47 was closed in both directions after the collision, in which the lorry spilt its cargo of potatoes and two other cars suffered minor damage, and was partially reopened by 4.40pm while repairs were made to the central reservation.

The accident happened near the A47 junction with the A140 at Harford Bridges at 10am, and resulted in the road being closed in both directions for nearly six hours while police investigated.

Mr Wright worked for Mason Bros, based in Swineshead, Lincolnshire, where he had been for about 10 years.

Anyone with information about Saturday's crash should contact police on 101.
