At least three lorries overturned in the Fens today as Storm Doris sweeps across Cambridgeshire. Police also reported at least 10 trees had fallen- many blocking Fens road.

The most recent incident was a Knowles Transport lorry that overturned on the busy A141 near March shortly before lunch.

Only a short while before police had been at the scene of another overturned lorry, 10 miles away also on the A141 between Chatteris and Warboys.

Ten fallen trees in the March, Wisbech and Ely areas have caused road closures and power outages so far this morning.

The first tree was blown down on the B1101 in March Road, Friday Bridge.

“It is blocking one lane of the carriageway,” said a police spokesman.

“Highways have been called. Please approach with care.”

The second fallen tree, in Long Drove, Friday Bridge, has also brought down power.

“Police on scene dealing, EDF Energy and BT are being called #stormdoris” posted on the Policing March and Chatteris Facebook page.

A third tree has also reportedly fallen in High Road, Tydd St Giles, with police officers now en route.

A fourth tree which has fallen in Gull Road, Guyhirn, bringing BT wires down with it, is reportedly blocking the carriageway. Police officers are on route, said a spokesman.

A fifth tree has fallen on the A141 at Westry and Fenland Council dustmen are said to be helping officers to try and remove it from the carriageway. “The tree is blocking one lane, officers on scene,” said a police spokesman.

A sixth fallen tree is also said to be blocking the road in Church Road, Leverington.

A seventh fallen tree has also caused one lane of Wimblington Road, March to close.

In Wisbech, other trees are said to have fallen - one at High Road and another on Wisbech by-pass.

A tenth tree has also fallen about a mile from Stretham on the A10.

It comes after The Met Office issued yellow and amber wind warnings for the East of England, as Storm Doris sweeps the country.

Our photographer is now on his way to Chatteris where storm damage has left at least one car buried under a sea of rubble.
