Lord Fisher's son was found hanged after his family reported him missing, an inquest heard today.

John Carnegie Vavasseur Fisher died on Sunday, aged 35.

At the inquest opening in Norwich, Norfolk's coroner Jacqueline Lake said Mr Fisher was reported missing to police after failing to turn up to a family meal.

He lived in Bury St Edmunds but often stayed at the family's estate in Kilverstone.

Today, his mother Lady Kay Fisher told the EDP of the family's heartbreak over the death.

She described him as 'a bright boy' who had only married his wife Sasha in November of last year.

He had also recently been accepted for a place at Cambridge to study for an MA in English Literature.

'He was kind and gentle and sensitive, and very clever, and vulnerable,' she said.

'We are all devastated. One of my daughters had just had a baby and he was very excited about that, and he was looking forward to attending Cambridge.

'He was such a dear boy and we are still coming to terms with the shock.'

Mr Fisher was raised in Risby and attended Eton.

•We incorrectly described Lady Fisher as Mr Fisher's step-mother in the EDP today. She is in fact his mother. We apologise for the error.
