The road in Great Yarmouth was closed for over eight hours yesterday and caused massive tailbacks through the town as drivers had to navigate the one-way system during the evening rush hour.
The piece of machinery, which weighed several tonnes, fell off a lorry and onto the pavement next to a set of traffic lights.
The masonry below was damaged and a tree planter was also crushed.
A huge crane had to be brought in to remove the trailer and then the gearbox from the scene.
