The five-year-old was a long-term lodger and saw more than 44,140 visitors walking past her kennel.

But the loving pooch is now settling into life with Richard and Kate Brooks from Spixworth, near Norwich.

Mrs Brooks said: 'She is so affectionate and gentle, we feel lucky to have her. Bonnie's first outing with us was to the beach and she was in her element, she was on her back making sand angels straight away.

'Bonnie has already been well integrated into the family - my mum regularly phones us to ask how she is and to say she misses her.'

Staff and volunteers at the rehoming centre went above and beyond for Bonnie, coming in of days off to walk the hound.

The Snetterton rehoming centre manager Diane McLelland-Taylor said: 'We're overjoyed to hear that Bonnie has settled in so well to her forever home.

While it's bitter sweet for staff that will miss her presence, she's really landed on her paws with Mr and Mrs Brooks.

'With some dogs like Bonnie needing very specific homes, our canine carers and training and behaviour team work tirelessly to make sure that they're ready to go off to loving homes.

'Bonnie's story is testament to their work, and we know she'll be very happy in her new home. When you adopt a dog through Dogs Trust, new owners have advice for life with our behaviourists.'

Dogs Trust Snetterton has rehomed 370 dogs so far this year.
