The chairman of a Royal British Legion branch in Norfolk has been thanked for his years of service at a special meeting.

Colonel David James served as the chairman of the Fakenham branch of the Royal British Legion for 15 years before retiring in October last year.

The group held an informal meeting on Monday, June 10 to express the thanks of the branch for his dedication and work as chairman.

Over his time as chairman, the branch won many awards including The Hayden Cup, The Membership Cup and The Wilfred Burman Cup.

He also oversaw the branch relocating from the Townshend Club to the Conservative Club in Fakenham.

A certificate of thanks was presented to Mr James by the branch President, Charles Townshend.

Thanks were given by the current branch chairman Philip Walker and George Acheson, who recently stepped down as the town's mayor, and Canon Patrick Foreman were also present.
