Rail commuters travelling to London this morning were held up for about two hours after a train left Norwich late and then broke down at Diss.

The 9:30am departure from the city left 25 minutes late and was trying to leave Diss at about 10.15am when it ran in to problems and “failed”.

About half an hour later, the broken-down train was towed to Ipswich where passengers boarded another train for the rest of their journey to Liverpool Street.

The hold-up also caused a delay of 1 hour and 20 minutes to the 10am departure from Norwich.
