An air ambulance paramedic has praised people in Wells for their help in getting an elderly woman to hospital after a fall in the road.

The medical crew aboard Anglia One were called to the aid of an the patient who had sustained a leg injury on Friday.

They landed at Wells Football Club at Beach Road but were some distance from the woman.

Critical care paramedic Ben Caine said: 'Thanks to some very helpful bystanders with a Land Rover we were taken straight to the patient. We were then assisted back to the landing site with the patient and airlifted her to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital for further assessment and treatment.

'I'd like to thank those who helped for their assistance as they saved valuable time and made sure we got to the lady as quickly as we possibly could to give her the best pre-hospital care.'
