Would you name your child after an inspiring politician - Margaret, Tony, Bill or even Cameron?

Some people do, and it turns out that a Norfolk politician has inspired the naming of a pet. Conservative candidate Chloe Smith claims to be the inspiration for the christening of a feline in Norwich.

She revealed on Twitter on Monday that she had met constituents who had named their new cat after her.

She is not the first politician to inspire the name of a pet. West Suffolk candidate Matthew Hancock admitted that his tabbies were called Gideon (the original name of the Chancellor) and Norma (not after me - but after the wife of former Prime Minister John Major).

What can we conclude from this? The campaign is getting catty.
